Dalung gives NFF four-week ultimatum on foreign coach

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has given the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) a four-week ultimatum to give a comprehensive report on how they intend to foot the bills of a foreign coach before he can ratify such a move.
The issue of a foreign coach has been on the front burner since the elimination of the Super Eagles from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations .
In a meeting with the NFF on Tuesday, Dalung said the Federation needed to convince him on the merits of hiring a foreign coach and how the funds will be sourced out to hire the coach.

He also advised the NFF to reconstitute its technical committee in the face of the Eagles successive Nations Cup miss.

Sunday Oliseh resigned as coach of the Super Eagles few weeks before the clash with Egypt citing contractual breaches.

Under-23 coach Samson Siasia [above] took charge of the back-to-back2017 Afcon qualifiers against Egypt albeit unsuccessfully, but despite appeals for him to be retained, it seems likely the NFF want to hire a foreign coach.

“We debated extensively on the issue of a foreign coach and it was agreed that the technical committee to make a case why we would need a foreign coach,”Dalung said during the parley.

“We need to know where we will get the funds, there should be an established source of funding for a foreign coach.

“I expect a report from the NFF in four weeks.”he added.

The 2018 World Cup qualifiers resume in June and it will be left to see if Nigeria goes for a foreign coach or stick with Samson Siasia.
