Capital market indices rise by 1.1 per cent on NSE

nigerian_stock_exchangeTransactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened on Monday on an upward trend as the major equities recorded price gains.

Due to the price gain, the capital market indices rose by 1.1 per cent.

The All-Share Index grew by 416.85 basis points to close at 37,562.49 points as against the 37,145.64 posted on Friday.

Also, the market capitalisation, which opened at N11.763 trillion recorded a growth of N132 billion or 1.1 per cent to close at N11.895 trillion.

Guinness led on the gainers’ table by N11 to close at N241 per share.

It was followed by 7UP, which gained N6.40 to close at N75.90, while Dangote Cement appreciated by N4.77 to close at N194.77 per share.

Nestle rose by N3.98 to close at N959 per share, while Champion appreciated by N1.18 to close at N12.10 per share.

 

On the other hand, Total topped the losers’ chart with a loss of N5.92 to close at N153.08 per share.

Forte Oil trailed with N4.38 to close at N39.44 per share, while Nigerian Breweries lost 69k to close at N169.32 per share.

Stanbic IBTC dipped by 42k to close at N15.58, while IHS lost 30k to close at N2.75 per share.

In all, investors bought a total of shares 229.11 million shares worth N1.7 billion traded in 5,478 deals.

This is against the 273.29 million shares valued N2.6 billion traded in 4,842 deals on Friday.
