Buhari served Nigeria with commitment that must not be let to fade —- Shettima

 Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the late former President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with commitment, urging ,”we must not let that vision fade.

He spoke at a special prayer session held on Thursday in Daura to mark the third day since the passing of Buhari, who died on Sunday in London.

The event, which took place at the late president’s residence, attracted thousands of mourners from across the country who gathered to offer prayers for the repose of his soul.

In an emotional reflection, Shettima described the loss as “the fall of a great wall.”

He also conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to upholding Buhari’s legacies and supporting the family he left behind.

“I thank Gov. Dikko Radda for his selfless services and the Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno for his unwavering support from London until now,” he said.

The vice-president also disclosed that following the prayer session, officials would proceed to Abuja for the upcoming Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which would also be dedicated to honoring the late president.

“We will continue receiving foreign diplomats, delegates, and former colleagues who will be arriving to express their condolences.

“Buhari served this country with commitment, and we must not let that vision fade,” he said.

Special prayers were led by different scholars, including the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali-Pantami, who described Buhari’s death as a monumental loss that should not be forgotten in just three days.

“His life and service to the nation deserved continuous remembrance and sincere prayers from all of us.

“We should continue to remember him in our daily prayers asking the Almighty Allah to have mercy on him, forgive his shortcomings, lighten his grave, protect him from the punishment of the grave, and admit him into His eternal mercy and Paradise,” Pantami prayed

Other notable religious figures who offered prayers included Sheikh Muhammad Jingir, Prof. Ibrahim Makari, Chief Imam of Katsina Sheikh Al-Mustapha Gambo, Catholic Bishop of Katsina Gerald Musa, Sheikh Naziru Kofar-Baru Daura, and Malam Hassan Daura.

In his remarks, Radda expressed deep gratitude to Tinubu for the support shown since Buhari’s passing.

“We appreciate President Tinubu for allowing 25 Ministers to stand with us during this difficult period and for declaring a public holiday in honour of the late Muhammadu Buhari.

“We will remain in Daura to receive those who continue to come and offer their prayers and condolences to the people of Katsina State,”Radda said.

Freedomonline reports that prominent personalities in attendance included the former President of Benin Republic Boni Yayi, former Vice-President Alhaji Namadi Sambo and members of the National Assembly, among other top political figures.days.
