Pastor Comfort Oyegoke, Youth Pastor, First Baptist Church, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, has called on Christians in the country to be Christlike and live in peace with fellow humans.

She gave the admonition in her sermon marking the commencement of the 2023 Youth Week celebration of the c

Church in Akwanga, on Sunday.

According to her, it is important for Christians to love one another just as Christ loved His people and died for them.

She added that lack of love and peaceful living in the country had continued to breed religious intolerance and disunity among several ethnic and religious groups.

The cleric said that for the country to prosper, it was necessary for Christians to imbibe Christlike character and be tolerant of everyone around them.

“Jesus Christ as a living water did not come for a particular tribe; he came for all tribes, for all gender and for all races.

“Just like the story in the Bible of the Samaritan woman who came to draw water at a well and Jesus requested for a drink from her.

“We can see Jesus breaking the barrier of gender, religious differences as well as social status that existed then.

“Jesus as a living water showed that he didn’t come for one tribe, he came for all and this example showed that he cared for all.

“As Christians, we must be seen promoting peaceful coexistence amongst people, not sowing seeds of discord that only lead to destruction and confusion in the country,” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Youth Week celebration is a week-long event featuring Bible quiz competition, dinner, praise night, among others.

The theme for the event is “Drink; it’s ever refreshing”.
