Atiku: Help! Unknown people depositing money into my account

Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2027, Atiku Abubakar, has cried out over unsolicited deposit in his bank account.
While raising the alarm, the former Vice President from 1999 to 2007, said he does not know the sender of the money, and did not authorise or solicit such gesture from anybody.

He revealed that the anonymous sender tagged the deposit narration as “Contribution Electioneering Campaign”.

But, the Waziri Adamawa expressed concerns over what he described as suspected breach of his private banking information.
To him, the incident forms part of what he described as a series of suspicious activities ahead of the 2027 general elections and urged security agencies to take note.
In a statement on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA), Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the transaction was made despite the fact that neither him nor his campaign team had solicited, authorised or had any knowledge of the sender.

To him, the development is disturbing, noting that the account involved is strictly private and its details are not publicly available.

He questioned how an unknown individual gained access to his confidential banking details, warning that the incident raises broader concerns about the safety of Nigerians’ financial data.

The statement queried: “If the private banking information of a former Vice President and a leading presidential candidate can be accessed and deployed for reasons yet unknown, then no Nigerian’s financial privacy is safe”.

Atiku further alleged that the leak may have originated from persons with privileged access to sensitive information, warning that such exposure could place account holders at risk from kidnappers, terrorists, bandits, fraudsters and other criminal elements.

Asserting that any attempts at character assassination would fail, he said he is focused on providing credible leadership and practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
