The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s determination to eliminate all forms of security threats facing the country.

Shaibu gave the assurance during an operational visit to Yobe State, where he assessed ongoing military activities and interacted with troops on the frontline.

The visit was confirmed in a statement released by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, the army chief said the military remains focused despite recent attacks targeting its positions, noting that tactical adjustments are already producing positive outcomes.

He stressed that the army would continue to adapt its strategies in response to evolving security challenges across different regions of the country.

“The Nigerian Army will remain proactive and aggressive in confronting threats in all operational theatres,” Shaibu stated.

The COAS also called for stronger cooperation from citizens and state governments, emphasizing that collaboration is essential to achieving long-term peace and stability.

During his engagement, Shaibu commended the government and people of Yobe State for their continued support for troops involved in counter-insurgency operations.

On arrival in Damaturu, he was received by Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by Deputy Governor Idi Gubana, at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport.

At the Headquarters of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, the army chief charged soldiers to intensify their operations against insurgents and remain committed to their mission.

He urged them to honour fallen colleagues by maintaining discipline and sustaining offensive actions against terrorist groups.

In his remarks, Governor Buni praised the resilience and sacrifices of the armed forces in restoring relative peace to the region.

He also paid tribute to fallen soldiers, describing them as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Meanwhile, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, alongside  Senator Ali Ndume, visited military authorities to express condolences over recent losses suffered by troops in the North-East.

Zulum pledged continued support and said new strategies would be developed to strengthen collaboration with security agencies in tackling emerging threats.
