APC wins Zaria House of Representatives seat

Dr Abbas Tajudeen of All Progressives Congress (APC) has retained his seat in the House of Representatives for Zaria federal constituency after defeating five other contestants in Saturday’s National Assembly election.

Declaring the results at the INEC office in Zaria, Kaduna State on Monday, the Returning Officer, Prof. Yusuf Dada-Amate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, said the APC candidate scored 90,325 votes.

He said his closest rival, Ahmed Abdu-Zaria of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 37,282 to come second while other candidates trailed behind.

The Returning Officer said the election was conducted freely, fairly and peacefully without report of any violence.

He said: “Abbas Tajudeen of APC having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied all requirements of the law is hereby declared winner to represent Zaria federal constituency at the House of Representatives.”
