Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will enter the 2027 general elections more united and politically stronger across the state and the country.
The governor made this known through his deputy, Dr Peter Odey, during a massive political rally held in Ikom, which drew thousands of party supporters and stakeholders.
The event, described as a large-scale solidarity march in support of President Bola Tinubu and the state government, was organised by the Prince Otu Is Coming Organisation
Speaking at the gathering, Otu emphasised the need for unity among party members, urging aspirants and supporters to avoid internal conflicts and work together for the party’s success.
He noted that while political ambitions are valid, differences should be resolved through dialogue to maintain cohesion within the party.
The governor said the APC intends to strengthen its position by leveraging ongoing federal projects and its governance record in Cross River State.
He also highlighted achievements of his administration, particularly in addressing workers’ welfare.
According to him, funds have been released to settle gratuities owed since 2007, with additional payments expected before mid-year to clear outstanding liabilities.
Otu called on residents to actively participate in the electoral process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and supporting democratic engagement.
He projected strong electoral support for the ruling party, stating that Cross River State could deliver up to three million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
In his remarks, Soni Abang, Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in the state, said future political campaigns would focus more on measurable achievements rather than promises.
He explained that voters would be encouraged to assess completed and ongoing projects as part of a shift toward performance-based campaigning.
Abang expressed optimism about the federal government’s economic reforms, noting signs of improvement in areas such as food supply and infrastructure development despite global challenges.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the organising group, Emmanuel Ironbar, called for intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Ironbar urged party supporters to engage in peaceful campaigns, avoid misinformation, and promote issue-based political discussions.
The rally underscored growing political activity in Cross River State as preparations gradually begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
