The Yuletide spirit filled Trinity University, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos as the management and students of the institution gathered in celebration at the 2025 Christmas Carol of Seven Lessons.

The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Kolawole, said the 2025 Christmas Carol, with the theme: “All hail, the Saviour of Mankind: A Carol of Seven Lessons”, held on Thursday, was dedicated to celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Kolawole said the first lesson recorded the coming of Jesus Christ, taken from the Bible; Isaiah 9:6; second lesson – Luke 1: 26-35; third lesson – Matthew 1: 22-23; fourth lesson -Titus 3: 3-8, while the fifth lesson was from 1 Peter 1: 18-23.

The VC noted that the importance of the seven lessons was to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, the comfort it gives and joy to live for Him and Him alone, to follow in the standard of Christ and the positive change it brings.

Kolawole said that the university valued Christian ethics and recognised the December season as very important to Christians.

He said: “A season that marks the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and one of how we celebrate his birth is through a carol of songs and lessons.

”So, it is part of the tradition of the university that every year, on the third week of December, we organise a carol to thank God for the success of the year.

“The carol is also to celebrate God for Jesus Christ for our lives and for the progress we are making and to prepare us for Christmas,” he said.

Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Mr Samuel Olatunji, said that the world was privileged to have Jesus Christ as a good shepherd.

“As a good shepherd, Christ has always shown that He is always with us everywhere, in whatever situations we find ourselves in.”

According to him, Christ is ever ready to protect, provide, deliver and sustain us.

Olatunji said: ” Today we are dancing, jumping and rejoicing for the goodness of the Almighty God in our lives, in years behind the year we are in and the years ahead of us because he is an unchanged God.

“Today’s theme is “All Hail the Saviour of Mankind”.

“This theme means God is committed to saving the world and not until Jesus was born he came to fulfil it but he has been there since the world began.

” As He has promised the world in the beginning, he would save us from our enemy.

“God, from the foundation of the world, has been committed to this beautiful festival of the same salvation of the world, of the intervention in the world.

” All have that promise and commitment of the Almighty God.

“Even though the world is in turbulence, chaos all over in every part of the universe but that there is a God in heaven who is committed to the salvation of the world.

“That promise has been there before the world began; to save us from our enemies whether we are men or women, sinners or righteous. God in heaven has already committed Himself to the foundation of the world, to intervene for us.”

The chancellor said that each time they had the privilege to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, it was an opportunity to show their gratitude to God.

Olatunji urged the students to always celebrate the values of Christianity and keep the principles of God by giving love to themselves, living a clean life, working and making God the centre of their lives.

The Christmas Carol was attended by members of the school’s Governing Council, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Units, Heads of Departments, members of staff and students.

There was dance choreography, drama and song presentations, among others.
