Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has condemned the recent attack on Tse-Ikpur community of Logo Local Government Area of Benue state by unknown gunmen, leading to the death of many residents.
The condemnation is contained in a statement by the Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Ahman Tukur in Lafia, the state capital, on Sunday.
The governor described the attack as inhuman and urged the perpetrators to desist from such acts and allow the government to direct its energy toward providing good governance to the people.
He enjoined security agencies to heighten surveillance around communities bordering the state.
The statement quoted the governor as saying that the loss of lives and property of every Nigerian should be of concerned to everyone.
It advised Nigerians to always seek redress through lawful means and to desist from taking the law into their hands no matter the level of provocation.
He advised all parties to a conflict to desist from killing and maiming people as well as destroying properties in times of disagreements, but to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences amicably.
Al-Makura, therefore, warned “perpetrators of evil“ to steer clear of the state.
