Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, has been described as a ‘political jobber, disaster, political liability and a sinking woman’ by Oyo State Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the February 28 election, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Oloye Akinjide, who doubles as the coordinator of Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation in Oyo State had, in a statement, alleged Akala and his loyalists of allegedly masterminding the attack on five members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over their “refusal to join his new party – Labour Party” .
Describing the minister as a shadow-chaser, Akala, a former governor of the Pacesetter State and reacting through his Director of Public Affairs, Oludare Ogunlana, said that “her greed and self-centered manoeuvre to return as a minister beyond 2015 made her to join the gang of saboteurs to prevent PDP from presenting a popular candidate”.
He said there was no way the former governor’s loyalists could have attacked anyone for not following him because those who joined LP are more than those who stayed behind in PDP.
The former governor added that her position as minister has not been able to impact meaningfully to Oyo State which she represents at the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
He observed that Oloye Akinjide was economical with the truth because “it was this same Akala who got the senatorial ticket for the minister in 2011 when it seemed impossible but his father’s name could not secure her victory at the general election. We would have kept silent because the allegation came from a political featherweight but we came out for the members of the public not to be fooled by the antics of those ungrateful elements who derive joy in lying”
He said that the minister should rather point to what she has facilitated to Oyo State apart from polarising the already dead party, adding that even the vehicle she claims she donated to students of The Polytechnic, Ibadan “is there on the road side not working”
He said further that “Oloye Akinjide is a failed minister who is looking for relevance, a woman who wants to blame her failure on others. If Akinjide and her co-travellers are popular as they claimed, Akala will not be able to leave PDP with more than 80% of party members.
“Her husband is a committed member of APC while she is a serving minister under PDP. I think it would have been honourable for her to resign. It shows she lacks credibility and integrity.
“She is a political disaster to Oyo State because people could not feel the impact of Federal Government in Oyo. She is a crass opportunist looking for cheap popularity. I still wonder why President Jonathan appointed such a woman who lacks the political capability to handle the job”.
He, therefore, urged the populace to “disregard an accusation coming from a sinking woman”.
