hajjThe National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) said on Saturday that the airlift of pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia to Kano zone will commence on Sunday.

The NAHCON Zonal Coordinator in Kano, Alhaji Umar Bala, disclosed this during a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.

“The airlift of returning pilgrims to Kano zone will start tomorrow (Sunday) from 6:30 p.m. Saudi Arabian time, which is 8:30 p.m. Nigerian time.’’

Bala, who is in Saudi Arabia, said the commission had completed necessary arrangements for the commencement of the homeward journey.

He expressed the hope that the airlift would be hitch-free and urged the pilgrims to give the commission the necessary support and cooperation to ensure success of the exercise.

A total of 8,232 pilgrims (5,648 from Kano and 2,584 from Jigawa states) were transported to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj from Kano zone.
