The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, has introduced a series of policing reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and bolstering security in Lagos and Ogun States.
Jimoh made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja. The reforms were disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesperson for Zone 2 Command, DSP Gbenga Afolayan, on Tuesday.
Accompanied by the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Tijani, and other members of the zonal management team, Jimoh formally introduced himself as the newly appointed AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command to Governor Sanwo-Olu.
During the visit, Jimoh expressed his gratitude to the Lagos State Government for its continuous support to the police force, particularly in terms of logistics, operational backing, and welfare initiatives aimed at improving policing efforts and crime prevention strategies.
He highlighted some of the significant achievements under his leadership, which have contributed to a noticeable reduction in crime and enhanced public safety across both Lagos and Ogun States.
A key component of the new reforms, according to Jimoh, includes a complete ban on transferring cases from state commands to the zone. This move, he noted, was intended to improve service delivery and enhance operational efficiency within the police force.
Additionally, Jimoh revealed that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, had approved the establishment of seven new police divisional headquarters in Lagos. This decision follows Jimoh’s previous recommendations during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
Reaffirming his commitment to upholding law and order, Jimoh assured Lagos residents that Zone 2 Command would continue to protect lives and property, while working tirelessly to ensure a safer environment for all.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who warmly welcomed Jimoh during the visit, described it as a “homecoming,” noting the AIG’s previous service as Commissioner of Police in Lagos. He praised the Zone 2 Command as one of the leading police zones in the country and expressed confidence in Jimoh’s leadership and professionalism.
The governor also commended the ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, especially the approval of additional divisional headquarters in Lagos. He emphasized that this development would bring policing closer to the people, strengthening public trust in the police force.
Sanwo-Olu reassured Jimoh and the entire police force of the Lagos State Government’s continued support for efforts aimed at improving security and ensuring safer communities across the state.
