Age falsification: Ex-Milan player, Yaffa, faces charges in Italy

Former AC Milan youth team player, Yusupha Yaffa, is facing fraud charges in Italy after claiming to be a full nine years younger than he actually is.
The striker was believed to be a teenager, but it turns out he might actually be closer to 30.
Sources in Italy said that Yaffa, who left the Rossoneri for Germany earlier this season, gave the wrong age to the club and Italian immigration officials when he arrived.
He should now be just 19, but apparently the age on his Facebook profile is 28.
The Gambian is said to have claimed he was born on 31st December, 1996, when his alleged real birthday is 14th November, 1987.
Age fraud and accusations of it can be all too common in African football – Lazio teenager Joseph Minala can testify to that after he was falsely accused of being in his forties. Yaffa is blaming his situation on losing his passport multiple times.
However, that still wouldn’t necessarily explain why his age on Facebook was showing as 28 if he genuinely thought he was 19.
Yaffa will now return to Italy to face the charges that have been brought against him. It is thought that former Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi and a number of other club officials will be called upon to give evidence in the legal proceedings.
