Preliminary results from the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Adamawa State indicate that 35-year-old businessman and politician, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, has taken a clear and commanding lead, outperforming his rivals by a wide margin in the race.

The primary, which has attracted considerable political attention ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election, features prominent contenders including Ahmed Tijjani Galadima and Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, as well as Dr. Salihu Bakarri Girei and Aminu Iya Abbas, who joined the contest with comparatively lower visibility.

According to the information from the HMT, which captures the position of the three prominent aspirants, Haske has, so far, polled a total of 555,427 votes (68.66 per cent); while Galadima polled 146,068 votes (18.00 per cent) and Namdas had 64,430 votes representing a paltry 07.96 per cent of the total votes. Namadas polled 45,562 votes (05.61 per cent).

While the figures represent the results so far collated from the 216 wards of the State, with 10 wards of Toungo Local Governmennt Area (LGAs) yet to be received, the HMT also provides some details of available votes from some of the 216 wards in the state, unambiguously indicating that Haske is the candidate to beat in the gubernatorial race.

Breakdowns of results from various wards and local government areas, which have trickled in, further underscore Haske’s overwhelming dominance. In Hong Local Government Area, Haske emerged ahead with 15,185 votes, surpassing Galadima’s 12,025 votes and Namdas’ 7,547 votes.

In Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Haske maintained a strong lead across multiple wards, including Mbilla Ward where he polled 8,709 votes, far exceeding Galadima’s 220 votes and Namdas’s 50 votes.

Similar patterns were recorded in Yaffo Ward, where Haske secured 370 votes against Galadima’s 10 and Namdas’s 20, and in Mayo Farang Ward where he recorded 1,980 votes, compared to Galadima’s 60 and Namdas’s 20.

In Michika I Ward of Michika Local Government Area, Haske posted 6,200 votes, leaving Galadima with 280 votes and Namdas with just five. At Kiri II Ward in Toungo Local Government Area, Haske again led with 475 votes, distancing Galadima, who recorded 25 votes, and Namdas with 33 votes.

The trend continued in Jada Local Government Area, where Haske recorded overwhelming victories across several wards, including 4,001 votes in Leko Ward, 1,300 votes in Koma II Ward, 3,100 votes in Jada I Ward, and 2,002 votes in Jada II Ward, with his closest rivals trailing significantly in each instance.

Further results from Yola South Local Government Area showed Haske consolidating his lead, particularly in Adarawo Ward where he polled 5,887 votes, compared to Galadima’s 65 and Namdas’s 12. In Ngurore Ward, he recorded 862 votes, while Galadima and Namdas polled 36 and 13 votes respectively. In Makama “A” Ward, Haske maintained his advantage with 1,660 votes, ahead of Galadima’s 187 and Namdas’s 98.

In Yola North Local Government Area, results from Jambutu Hajj Camp Ward revealed Haske securing 7,850 votes, ahead of Galadima’s 2,007 votes. Similarly, in Demsa Local Government Area, Haske recorded 2,351 votes, while Galadima managed only 51 votes.

The emerging results highlight Haske’s consistent and widespread appeal across both urban and rural constituencies, reinforcing his position as the clear frontrunner in the primary election.

Observers note that the significant margins recorded in multiple wards point to a well-established grassroots structure and growing political momentum.

The Haske Media Group emphasised that the figures released are based on verified and collated results from across the state, reaffirming the credibility of the data and the transparency of the process. It added that additional updates will be provided as more results become available, in line with the commitment to keeping party stakeholders and the public fully informed.
