The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses (SFGH) in Abuja.
The directive was disclosed by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the minister on Public Communications and Social Media, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the decision follows the completion of the committee’s assigned responsibilities.
FCT Creates New Division for Housing Matters
Following the closure of the secretariat, the FCT Administration has established a dedicated division within the Department of Land Administration to handle all issues relating to the sales of Federal Government Houses.
Olayinka explained that although the committee had completed its mandate, its secretariat remained operational temporarily to address matters arising from its activities.
With the formal shutdown, members of the public seeking assistance on Federal Government Houses Sales matters have now been directed to approach the Department of Land Administration.
FCT Warns Against Fraudulent Activities
The FCT Administration also warned residents against individuals who may attempt to present themselves as officials, members or representatives of the dissolved committee and its former secretariat.
The minister’s spokesperson stressed that the committee and its secretariat no longer exist and urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with anyone claiming to represent the defunct body.
The move is part of efforts by the FCT Administration to streamline the handling of Federal Government housing sales-related matters and ensure that official processes are channelled through the appropriate department.
