Recently, the world watched a former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, and who also professes to be an activist, Shehu Sani, stating why former President Goodluck Jonathan should not contest the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.
We, in the South-West, dare say that Shehu Sani and his ilks are President Bola Tinubu’s paid agents, given the task of embarking on subtle persuasion of viable opposition figures against contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Sani, while speaking as a guest on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television, said the PDP, the party which platform Jonathan won the election in 2011, is no longer united.
He then advised the ex-president to jettison the idea of running for presidency come 2027.
The pertinent question is: how did Sani arrive at the conclusion that the PDP is not united when he’s not a member of the party? At least, there’s no record of him attending the party’s meetings in recent years. He even has the gut to say that Jonathan’s name always comes out whenever there is an election, which only amounts to spewing garbish.
Hear him: “But I advise him not to do that. The reason is very simple, the PDP he used to know is not the PDP now.
“The PDP in the South-West is endorsing the president. Some members of the party are in the coalition. So, it is the party he used to know so he shouldn’t waste his time,” he said.
Who asked for the advice of this APC apologist, who everyone is aware as being touted as one of ambassadorial candidates of the President Bola Tinubu’s government?
We advise that he keeps his advice to himself and face the problems in his Kaduna home state, where his fierce adversary, the former governor Nasir El-Rufai and his successor Uba Sanni have made life a living hell for him. His political career has been long dead, laid to rest and not revivable.
Obviously, Sani and others are masquerading agents in their holier-than-thou doomsday predictions to dissuade viable opposition against their principal.
He’s not the only one, there are tens of such, who have been contracted to do the hatchet job. These self proclaimed spin doctors should know that former President Goodluck Jonathan has an unblemished record and international image that qualifies him far ahead of President Tinubu.
The PDP platform, against Sani’s projection, equally remains as solid as the Rock of Gibraltar.
We, therefore, reject Sani’s meddlesomeness, which aims only at protecting the interest of their paymaster in Aso Rock Villa.
