At least 10 persons have been rescued alive after a storey building collapsed at Alakija Bus Stop in Satellite Town, along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, on Thursday.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, which said emergency responders are still conducting search and rescue operations at the scene.
According to the Director of the service, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, a distress call was received at about 11:37 a.m., prompting the immediate deployment of rescue teams from the Ijegun-Egba Fire Station.
Rescuers arrived at the scene around 11:49 a.m. and began operations to locate and extract trapped victims.
Adeseye confirmed that the collapsed structure was a residential building occupied by multiple residents at the time of the incident.
She said all 10 rescued victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and have been transferred to medical facilities for treatment.
“Ten persons have been rescued alive with varying degrees of injuries,” she said.
Authorities said operations are still ongoing to determine whether additional occupants may be trapped under the debris.

The cause of the building collapse has not yet been established, according to officials.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The fire service urged residents to avoid crowding the area and allow emergency responders to work without obstruction.
Adeseye assured that further updates would be provided as rescue efforts continue.
