Buhari salutes Jonathan at 61

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, has created an upset in Nasarawa State, defeating his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.
Jonathan got 273,460 votes to Buhari’s 236,838.
In the 2011 elections, Nasarawa was the only state won by Buhari’s Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) governorship candidate, Governor Tanko Al-makura.
According to the results by the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lafia, the state capital, Jonathan won in seven of the 13 local government areas of the North-Central state.
The local governments included Obi, Keana,
Nasarawa, Eggon, Kokona, Doma and Akwanga, while Buhari won in six local government areas of Keffi, Wamba, Nasarawa, Toto, Awe and Lafia.
In the result announced by the Collation Officer for the presidential election, Professor Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi, Jonathan scored 22,693 votes in Obi local government area against Buhari who polled 12,543 votes.
In Keana, Jonathan polled 88, 013 votes against Buhari’s 75, 015 votes.
PDP won in Kokona with 23,682, APC polled
14,500; Doma, PDP polled 19,178 votes, while APC scored 12,903 votes; Nasarawa Eggon, PDP polled 44,825 votes against APC scoring 7,574 and Akwanga, PDP polled 15,992 votes to defeat APC with 10,823 votes.
Buhari polled the highest votes in Awe with 13,855 votes against Jonathan’s 9,964 votes and in Keffi, APC polled 26,796 votes, PDP scored 9, 735 votes, while ACP polled 12,958 votes in Wamba and PDP scored 8,353 votes respectively.
PDP also polled 22,711 votes, APC scored
15,099 votes. In Lafia, PDP polled 51,633 votes while APC scored 53,008 votes accordingly.
According to Rafindadi: “Total registered voters in
Nasarawa state is 1,222,054, total number of accredited voters, 564, 959. I now announce scores for each political parties that participated in the presidential election in Nasarawa State with the major political parties: APC 236,838 and PDP 273,460 votes”
