Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, has won Saturday’s elections in Kogi, Ondo, Ogun and Katsina states.
In Kogi, he won with 264, 851 votes, representing 62.9 percent
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, polled 149,937 (35.6%).
The state Returning Officer, Professor Michael Umale Adikwu, announced the result with the assistant of the state Resident Electoral Commission (REC), Alhaji Halilu Pai.
The result were compiled from the 21 local government areas of the state.
Buhari won in Governor Idris Wada’s local government of Dekina with 18,819 votes to Jonathan’s 13,885 votes.
The APC candidate also won in Dr. Ahmadu Ali’s local government of Idah with 10,445 votes to Jonathan’s 6,113.
Ali is the Director-General of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation.
Jonathan also won in Ogori-Magongo, Okehi and Mopa-Moro local government areas while Jonathan won in Yagba West, Igala Mela, Bassa and Kabba-Bunu councils.
The highest vote for the APC candidate came from Adavi council, which was the party’s stronghold, with 22,659 votes to Jonathan’s 7,767.
Jonathan, however, led Buhari with a wide gap in Ibaji council with 13,358 to 6,076.
In Ondo State, the Returning Officer, Prof. Oyewole Olusola, announced Buhari as the winner with 299,889 votes to 251,368 for Jonathan.

In Ogun State, Buhari also defeated Jonathan.
The APC candidate won in 13 of the 20 local government areas of the South-West state with 308,290 votes.
Jonathan won in seven local government areas, polling a total of 207,950 votes.
The results were announced at the INEC office in Magbon, Abeokuta, which was superintended by the State Collation Officer, Prof. Duro Oni, and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Chief Timothy Ibitoye.
Also, the APC won two senatorial seats and six House of Representatives seats in the state while PDP clinched one senatorial seat and three House of Representatives seats.
According to the results, Prince Lanre Tejuoso of APC won the election for Ogun Central Senatorial District while Prince Gbolahan Dada of APC won Ogun West Senatorial District.
For Ogun East Senatorial District, PDP’s candidate, Prince Buruji Kashamu, defeated the incumbent senator, Alhaji Adegbenga Kaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Dapo Abiodun of APC.
Kashamu, who is the Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of South-West PDP, polled 99,540 votes. SDP and APC scored 12,972 and 84,001 votes respectively.
In Ogun Central Senatorial District, Lanre Tejuoso of APC polled 115,197 votes to defeat PDP candidate, Dr Bisola Sodipo-Clark, and Senator Gbenga Obadara of SDP, who scored 30,036 and 15,124 votes respectively.
The 13 local governments won by the APC presidential candidate include Odogbolu, Ijebu North East, Ewekoro, Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode, Ijebu-Ode, Odeda, Ado-Odo/Ota, Abeokuta South, Egbado South, Egbado North, Ifo and Ipokia.
The PDP won in Remo North, Sagamu, Imeko-Afon, Ogun Waterside, Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ikenne local government areas.
Expectedly, Buhari won in his home state, Katsina.

In Niger State, the Chairman of Northern States Governors
Forum (NSGF), Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, lost his senatorial bid as he was defeated by the APC candidate, David Umaru.
He lost in five of the nine local government areas of
the Niger East Senatorial district.
The governor, who contested on the platform of PDP, was defeated in all the wards of the five local government areas
in the zone.
Aliyu polled 46,459 votes as against 149,443
votes recorded by the APC candidate.
The Returning Officer for the zone, Professor Ali
Audu Jiigam, said the APC candidate polled 49,519
votes in Chanchaga local government where he
resides while the governor polled 17,209 votes.
In Gurara local government, Aliyu recorded
6,520 votes as against the APC candidate’s 18,887
votes while in Shiroro, Umaru maintained the
lead of his council with 27,191 votes to PDP’s
7,519 vote
The APC candidate also defeated Aliyu in Tafa
local government with 17,596 votes as against
8,151 votes respectively while in Bosso local
government, APC had 36,250 votes and PDP 7,060
votes.
Umaru contested twice for the governorship position on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) respectively. Recently, he lost a senatorial election and was only given his
mandate a few days ago through the Appeal Court in Abuja.
In Abia State, Governor Theodore Orji won the Abia Central senatorial election with 65,653 votes.
The result was announced at Umuahia North Local Government Headquarters used by INEC as collation centre.
According to the Returning Officer (RO), Dr. Innocent Okoro, a lecturer at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ahamdi Nweke, scored 46,070 while the APC scored 10,204.
The incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Uzor Azubuike, lost the Aba North/Aba South federal seat to the APGA candidate.
