The remains of Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have been laid to rest in Ibadan on Friday.

Adeojo, who died at the early hours of Friday, was buried at his Iyaganku Government Reserved Area residence in the Oyo State capital.

The Janazat prayer was performed by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniyu Agbotomokekere.

The Grand Mufti of Ibadanland, Dr Abdul-Barihi Adetunji, later delivered a lecture and offered prayers for the deceased and his family.

The President of the Muslim Ummah of South-West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, said the deceased did a lot for Islam and humanity during his lifetime.

According to him, Adeojo will forever be remembered for his immense contributions to society.

The MUSWEN president appealed to those still alive to embark on good deeds as they remember that they would surely die one day.

In his remarks, a PDP Chieftain, Femi Babalola, said he received Adeojo’s death with shock.

He said that although he knew he was sick, he never thought death would come so soon.

Describing Adeojo as a good man, Babalola said the vacuum he left behind would be hard to fill at state and national levels.

Also, Sen. Sarafadeen Ali, (APC-Oyo South), described Adeojo as a forthright and bold person who always addressed issues directly without hidden agenda.

Similarly, the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yoruba land, Olatunde Badmus, said the deceased was a leader and builder.

He noted that Adeojo’s contributions to the political terrain made the South-West more relevant in national politics.

“He was the Deputy National Chairman of PDP when the party had not gained ground and was able to expand the tentacles of the party in the zone.

“His social life, business and contributions to religious harmony are worthy of emulating,” he said.

Dignitaries present include the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Daud Mankajuola and the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal.

Adeojo, who hailed from Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan, died at his Ibadan residence in the early hours of Friday following a brief illness.

He contested the 1999 governorship election as the PDP candidate in Oyo State.
