yakubu_aiyegbeniNigeria strikers Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Peter Utaka were among players who scored the goals for their respective clubs on Sunday in the Chinese Super League.

Aiyegbeni contributed to Guangzhou R&F’s 5-1 victory over Wuhan Zall when he scored his team’s second goal in the 35th minute.

Guangzhou R&F are now fifth on the league table with 31 points from 21 games.

The former Blackburn Rovers forward has scored nine goals this season in the Chinese Super League.

Former OB Odense hitman Utaka, on his part, helped Beijing Guoan to secure a point at Guizhou Renhe when he equalised in the 81st minute to end the game 1-1.

Beijing Guoan are third on the league table with 33 points from 21 games.

Utaka said that he is thrilled with his first league goal for the capital city team.

“It is obviously a great feeling for me and the fans, even though we could only manage a draw but it’s better than nothing,” Utaka said.

“At every game, I wish to score goals, goal scoring is like a spirit once it comes, it comes. I am happy for getting better in the game and I believe with the remaining matches my leg will speak better for more goals.

“I understand the goals are coming slowly against expectations, but I am working hard to meet expectations.”

Utaka, who scored 20 goals in his first season in China, said he believes he will get closer and get better for next season.

“I don’t want to believe scoring 10 goals is all I want. I still believe in scoring more goals for Beijing as well as to get ready to lead next season,” he said.
