Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has described Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State as “my boy and son”.
Wike, the immediate past governor of the oil-bearing state said he was not fighting Fubara but some political opportunists in the South-South state who are misleading and deceiving the governor who succeeded him on May 29, 2023.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Wike said: “Fubara is my boy, he is my son. How can I fight my own son?
“I am fighting certain political figures trying to exploit the current situation to regain political relevance and benefit from a system they neither built nor supported.
“I am fighting those deceiving him — those who want to reap where they did not sow —people like Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara. I have defeated them before, and I will give them the final defeat.
“The President called me to make peace with him. I can’t disobey the President. He (Fubara) called me, and I asked him how he is and how his family is doing,” Wike said.
