Reasons behind the rejection of Warri Wolves captain and Super Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe, by English Premier League side, West Ham have emerged.
It was gathered that the English club refused to sign on the Nigerian international, according to the club’s sources because “he was slow and clumsy.”
The Eagles defender failed to impress The Hammers after he underwent trials at the London club.
“Azubuike underwent trials at West Ham and Watford, but he didn’t do well enough to impress the officials and no contract was offered,” a top source disclosed.
And while a section of the Nigerian press was misled and celebrating the player’s arrival in London to sign the dotted lines for West Ham, Egwuekwe was in Israel finalising a move to Hapoel Tel Aviv.
