Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has said that the state will need Internally Generated Revenue of N5 billion monthly to survive.
The governor made the statement at the opening of Olufi Middle School, Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
He said that the state would conveniently cater for all its needs and fast-track development if it generated five billion naira as internally generated revenue monthly.

Aregbesola said such amount would ameliorate the current economic crisis in the state and make it stand on its own without depending on Federal Government financial allocations.

He said N310 million used in building the school was borrowed.

He advised teachers and students to make proper use of the school, saying “we want the school to be renovated after 50 years.”

The Aregbesola administration has built 11 high schools and promised to complete seven others by March 2016 to fulfil its promised to the people.
“We intend to construct 100 state of the heart elementary schools, 15 have been completed and we are also going to construct 50 Middle Schools in the state,” he said.
Commenting on the economic challenges in the country, Aregbesola said “it is time for every adult to be involved in one agricultural activity or the other as that is the only way we can survive the current challenges.’’
