Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State has promised to justify his election to represent Sokoto-Central senatorial district in the next Senate through quality representation that would be of immense benefit to all Nigerians.
Wamakko, who was declared winner of the Sokoto-Central senatorial election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated this in Sokoto on Tuesday.
He also promised to pursue legislations that would ensure full utilisation of the nation’s abundant human and natural resources for the benefit of Nigerians.
Wamakko said that vibrant and sound economic policies and programmes would strengthen the nation’s unity for peace, progress and political stability in the country.
” We have all it takes to maintain our name as the giant of Africa through effective policies that would attract more foreign investors,” he said.
The senator-elect commended APC supporters in the state for voting massively for the party in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He said that with effective legislations, the power sector would be revamped to facilitate massive industrialisation of the country.
According to him, stable power supply and adequate security will attract more foreign investments for the country.
Wamakko, however, advised politicians to election results in good faith in order to sustain the nation’s democracy.
He also urged politicians to embrace responsible politics in order to move the country forward.
“We should accept the results in good faith and sincerely for peace, progress and political stability of our county,” he said.
The outgoing governor urged Nigerians to put the nation’s interest above individual and group interest ‘’as it is only when we do this that Nigeria can be on the path of greatness.’’
