Stephen Keshi, the out-of-contract Super Eagles’ Head Coach, on Tuesday, reaffirmed his readiness to serve the country.
Keshi said it would be a privilege for him to return as the Eagle’s Head Coach when called to serve.
“I am ever ready to serve, because it is a privilege for somebody to work for his country,’’ he said.
Keshi had led the country’s senior football team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, after which his contract with the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) expired.
Under an ad hoc arrangement, where he handled the team on a non-contract basis, the coach however failed to lead the Eagles to qualification for the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
NFA board may have re-appointed Keshi as Eagles’ Head Coach on March 26 after its meeting in Uyo.
Keshi, a former Super Eagles captain, said that although he had not been officially informed of this reappointment, he was ready to work for his country.
He also said he was not aware if the NFA had removed some of the clauses he complained of in the contract.
“I am only just hearing of my reappointment because I am on sabbatical.
“Right now, I don’t know if they shifted ground on any of those clauses I raised concerns about,’’ Keshi said.
No date has been fixed for the signing of the new contract.
