A delegation of Nollywood stakeholders, led by Seun Oloketuyi, the Chief Executive of Best of Nollywood Awards, on Thursday, visited the Billingsway head office of UNILEVER Nigeria Plc, a household name in the manufacturing and marketing of food, personal and home care products.
The BON Awards delegation was warmly received by the top management team of the company, led by Yaw Nsarkoh, the Managing Director.
Oloketuyi, while speaking about the purpose for the August visit, explained that the plan was to appreciate brands that have supported the Nigerian movie industry in the past years, and most importantly, to say thank you to brands that have supported BON Awards down the years.
The awards ceremony, which is holding her 10th year edition in November, had UNILEVER as her title sponsor for the second edition in 2010.
That edition saw Unilever endow some categories of the awards, including Best Comedian of the Year, which gave the then winner, Gbenga Adeyinka, an all-expense paid trip to Dubai, courtesy of UNILEVER.
Oloketuyi unveiled a show reel of the achievement of BON Awards down the years, to the UNILEVER team, and projections to the grand events to mark a decade of the Awards ceremony, that has earned a reputation as the longest running platform celebrating Nollywood practitioners.
Responding to the address, Yaw reiterated his brands’ continuous support for Nigerian entertainment industry “to create a mutually benefitting and thriving terrain for everyone”.
He admitted that although there are patches of ills in the Nigerian society, there are also incredible events and ingenious people in Nigeria. “And that is the stories that the Nigerian movie industry is out to tell”.
“I can categorically state, without consulting, that we shall be part of your event this year. But we shall duly consult with the marketing team, to advise on ways in which we can come in’.
Also on the BON Awards delegation were multi-award winning actor, Yemi Black, veteran comedian and compere, Gbenga Adeyinka, and staff members of Best Of Nollywood Ventures.
