Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo-Udoma, has commended the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company for contributing $33 billion revenue to the Federal Government in the last 16 years.
This is contained in a statement by the Director, Information Unit in the ministry, Mr Charles Dafe in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the minister gave the commendation when the Managing Director of the company, Mr Babs Omotowa, and his management team visited him.
“ We must commend your company for having 95 per cent of its workforce as Nigerians.
“We are happy that the company presently ranked as the 4th largest in the world, including the company’s ability in the last 16 years to deliver $33 billion dollars revenue to government.
“Also, it was able to deliver the amount to the government through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with payment of 13 billion dollars straight into the Federation Account. “
The statement also said that the minister commended the company for reducing gas flaring from 65 per cent to 25 per cent.
In his response, Omotowa said that the company was presently building its seventh plant and that it would be ready between 2021 and 2022.
He said the project, when completed, would significantly reduce or totally end gas flaring in the country.
