Uche Nnaji Denies Evading Authorities, Says ICPC Never Invited Him

Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, has denied claims that he is evading law enforcement agencies, describing recent media reports suggesting otherwise as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja through his spokesperson, Dr. Robert Ngwu, Nnaji insisted that he is neither in hiding nor avoiding any security or anti-corruption agency in Nigeria.

Ngwu said the former minister’s residences in Asokoro, Abuja, where he has lived for nearly two decades, and in Independence Layout, Enugu, have long been publicly known to authorities.

“Chief Nnaji is not in hiding and has never evaded any law enforcement agency,” the statement read.

He added that neither Nnaji nor his legal representatives, led by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), have received any invitation, summons, or communication from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

“We wish to state clearly that neither Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji nor his legal team has received any invitation, summons, warrant, or correspondence from the ICPC,” he said.

Ngwu also referenced an ongoing case before the Federal High Court in Abuja (FHC/ABJ/CS/1909/2025), which he said was filed by Nnaji himself regarding issues relating to his academic records and transcript release.

According to him, the former minister initiated the case voluntarily and is not a defendant in the matter, as has been wrongly reported in some media outlets.

He noted that the case is still pending before the court and has not yet been determined.

The spokesperson further alleged that Nnaji has been subjected to sustained media scrutiny since October 2025, particularly in relation to his resignation, legal disputes, political activities, and governorship ambitions.

He also claimed that attempts were being made to tarnish the former minister’s image through politically motivated reports and misinformation.

Ngwu maintained that Nnaji remains committed to the rule of law, due process, and transparency, expressing confidence that the judiciary would resolve all issues based on facts.

“Chief Nnaji remains confident that truth and due process will prevail over sensational narratives,” he said.

He urged members of the public to remain calm and allow the courts to determine all matters currently in contention.
