Americans would elect the 45th President of the United States (U.S.) on November 8, 2016, and the winner of the presidential election would be sworn into office on January 20, 2017.
The Republican and Democratic parties are selecting presidential nominees for the 2016 general election.
Important dates in the nominations and election as released on Friday in Washington, indicated that on September 16, there would be the Republican Party candidates debate, at Simi Valley, California.
It said on October 13, the Democratic Party candidates debate, would come up at Las Vegas, Nevada.
On October 28 also, the Republican Party candidates’ debate would come up again at Boulder, Colorado.
So also on November 14, the Democratic Party candidates would again have debate at Des Moines, Iowa.
It said on December 15, Republican candidates’ debate at Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 19 Democratic candidates’ debate in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Also on January 17 – Democratic candidates debate at Charleston, South Carolina.
The release indicated that on February 1, there would be Iowa caucuses, also in early February, there would be New Hampshire primary.
The South Carolina primary would be in February, while on February 20, it would be for Nevada caucus.
It said further that March 1st would be the Super Tuesday primaries in 11 states, while between March and June the primaries would continue in both parties.
It said the Republican National Convention would nominate its presidential candidate between July 18 and 21, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Also between July 25 and 28, the Democratic National Convention to nominate presidential candidate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania would be held.
It said the U.S. general election would be held on November 8, 2016.
It added that by November 22, 2016, there would be Virgin Islands gubernatorial Runoff (if needed), November 25, 2016, Northern Marianas Islands gubernatorial Runoff (if needed)
Also December 10, 2016, would be for Louisiana Federal office runoffs (if needed), and January 10, 2017, Georgia Federal Office Runoffs (if needed).
The declared candidates for Democratic Party Democratic are Lincoln Chafee, Hillary Clinton, Lawrence Lessig, Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders and Jim Webb.
The declared candidates for Republican Party includes Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, John Kasich, George Pataki, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum, Donald Trump and Scott Walker.
