covered_deadTwo headteachers in Ondo State, Bolaji Sunday Igbasan and Festus Akinbinuade, were killed on Tuesday evening in an auto crash in Ore, Odigbo Local Government.

The incident occurred at Akinjagunla Junction along Costain/Ore Road at about 6pm.

Akinbinuade died two weeks to his retirement as he had tendered his retirement letter which expires on July 31 to the State Universal Basic Education.

Igbasan was expected to quit service in 2015 after 33 years of service.

The duo were childhood friends.

Igbasan, until his death, was the Headmaster of St. Andrew Primary School, Oja-Baale while Akinbinuade was the Headteacher of St. Mathew Primary School, Asejiri in Odigbo Local Government.

The crash occurred at Akinjagunla Junction when the duo were returning home in a Nissan Sunny car with registration number Ondo AE 505 GBA after visiting a friend at Akinjagunla community. The car belonged to Igbasan.

Igbasan, who was driving, was said to have lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a stationery lorry with registration number Lagos EPE 143 XB parked by the side of the road.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Wole Ogoro, described the incident as unfortunate.

He said the remains had been deposited at the Ore Specialist Hospital mortuary.

Ogoro said in a text message: “The accident occurred at Akinjagunla involving a Nissan Sunny car with registration number Ondo AE 505 GBA driven by one Igbasa Sunday, a Headteacher, who ran into a Mark truck with registration number Lagos EPE 143 XB parked by the roadside by the driver, one Osasere Agahare. The occupants died on the spot”.
