Toyota recalling 625,000 hybrids to fix software glitch

Toyota Motor Corp on Wednesday recalled 625,000 hybrid vehicles globally to repair a software glitch, the carmaker said.
“The recall includes 340,000 units in Japan, 160,000 in Europe and 120,000 in North America.
“The problem was identified in software used to control the boost converter in the hybrid system,’’ a spokesman for the Japanese carmaker, said.
Models affected by the latest recall include certain Prius V vehicles, also sold as Prius Alpha and Prius+ in some regions.
However, there have been no reports of injuries or accidents due to the defect.
