Tinubu Picks Taiwo Oyedele for Minister of State, Finance; Uzoka-Anite Reassigned

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated tax and fiscal policy expert Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, and has sent his name to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The nomination was conveyed in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, following a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

Oyedele, who until now served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, is expected to bring deeper momentum to the administration’s revenue and tax modernisation drive.

As part of the changes, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite will leave the finance ministry and take up a new role at the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State—another reassignment within the current administration.

Oyedele, who is from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, has a background in accounting and finance, with additional training through executive programmes in international institutions. He also built much of his career at PwC, where he spent more than two decades and rose to leadership positions in tax and fiscal policy advisory work.
