The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC), says three political parties have fielded 321 candidates for the Oct. 5, local government election.

The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr Auwalu Harbo, stated this at a news conference in Dutse on Wednesday.

He said the All Progressive Congress (APC) fielded 27 chairmanship and 287 councillorship candidates in the election.

Harbo said the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), fielded two chairmanship and three councillorship candidates while the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), has two chairmanship candidates, respectively.

The Chairman said the commission would deploy 14,794 trained ad hoc staff to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise, adding that all necessary arrangements has been concluded for the exercise.

He said the commission has provided about 95 per cent of sensitive and non sensitive election materials, and pledged commitment to free, fair and credible election.

“Also, adequate arrangements have bern made to ensure peaceful and hitch free election across the state,”
