From Bode Durojaiye, Oyo
Some elders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress [APC] in Oyo metropolis have described the recent attack by the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin, on Governor Abiola Ajimobi and his administration as the “ranting of a dishonest and
untrustworthy politician whose stock in trade is defecation of lies, deceit and mudslinging’’.
Folarin had said Ajimobi came to power without any plan which explains why he is initiating Fashola’s policies in Lagos.
The former Senator was also distraught about the deficit explosion that will occur when the cost of government borrowing doubles as a result of Ajimobi’s alleged penchant for high-risk loans.
In their reactions, two of the All Progressives Congress [APC] leaders, Alhaji Kola Yinus and Prince Tajudeen Lanite, said such unguarded and reckless utterances should not have emanated from a former Senator who represented Oyo Central District, including the four local
governments in the metropolis, but failed to do anything tangible for the people in his eight years in office.
The APC leaders said: “We are challenging the former
Senator to tell the world what he did for Oyo metropolis during his two terms in office. Does it mean that the former senator had no plan for his constituents, hence his total failure in office? Or if he had any plan at all, why did it fail to accomplish his promises? Rather than casting aspersion, engage in unhealthy jealousy and mudslinging,
Teslim Folarin should by now be apologising to us for his unfulfilled promises and acts of ingratitude.’’
They pointed out that both in terms of comparison and preference, Ajimobi is far more honest, trustworthy, reliable,
diligent, committed, focused and God-fearing than the PDP governorship candidate, adding that this could be attested through various monumental achievements of the present administration.
Also, a public affairs analyst, Pa Adebiyi Odekanyin, attributed the greatest danger to the country’s democratic governance and national stability to the lack of commitment , arrogance, power intoxication and the flagrant disregard to the rule of law by the PDP-led Goodluck Jonathan’s Administration.
Odekanyin noted that in spite of unabated waves of terror attacks and series of deadly bomb blasts by the callous, devilish and demonic militant movement, Boko Haram in the Northern part of the country, which have continued to heighten and exacerbate the palpable state of
insecurity in the land, both the PDP and Presidency have continued to wallow in barbaric, idiotic and unconscionable criminal utterances against the opposition party, APC and its leaders of redoubtable characters.
