Brown Ideye opened scoring for Nigeria in the 14th minute, and he was on target again four minutes later.

Shola Ameobi scored his first goal for Nigeria by scoring Nigeria’s third goal in the 60th minute of the game, after collecting a pass from Efe Ambrose on the right flank.
Substitute Emmanuel Emenike took the game beyond the Burkinabes’ reach by making it 4-0 with a low drive after collecting a pass from Ameobi at the edge of the penalty box.

After the Eagles made several changes to the team, they made several attempts at increasing the tally, with their efforts yielding no result.

The visiting team, who lost 0-1 to the Eagles on February 10 in the final of the 2013 AFCON, however scored through Simpore Saidou to make the scoreline look respectable.

The match venue was filled to capacity with many of the fans hanging on to the stadium walls to watch the game.
