The South-East All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, pledging massive regional mobilisation for his second-term bid.

The endorsement was announced at the APC South-East Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Presidential Hotel, Enugu, on Saturday.

APC lawmakers, party chieftains and faithful from Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo attended the meeting.

Imo Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said the meeting reviewed where the South-East stood politically and charted a collective path forward.

Uzodimma said Tinubu had “entrusted his political fate in 2027 in the hands of APC South-East”, describing it as a burden of responsibility.

“That profound statement places on us the duty to ensure the South-East becomes part and parcel of the national equation,” Uzodimma said.

He said the hall reflected the zone’s political strength, adding that attendees commanded respect across their communities.

“They are credible leaders and major stakeholders of APC, not only in the South-East but across Nigeria,” he said.

Uzodimma said about 70 per cent of the South-East’s political leadership was represented at the meeting.

He noted a growing consensus among South-East elites to seriously engage their place within the Nigerian political project.

Uzodimma said the zone chose a “strange path” in 2023 and could no longer afford political isolation.

“President Tinubu is entitled to and deserves a second term to complete the work he has started,” he said.

Enugu Governor, Peter Mbah, called for an end to political fragmentation in the South-East.

“We are saying the South-East will no longer stand as a divided political unit,” Mbah said.

He said the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ was beyond slogans, stressing unity between regional vision and federal delivery.

“This endorsement shows our resolve to push this momentum further for our people and economy,” Mbah said.

Ebonyi Governor, Francis Nwifuru, commended Tinubu for supporting South-East APC governors and strengthening the party’s growth.

He expressed confidence that APC would deliver Tinubu in 2027, citing increasing defections into the party.

Nwifuru urged leaders to forgive one another and make sacrifices to accommodate new members. “Our people in Ebonyi are one,” he said.

Sen. Peter Nwebonyi (Ebonyi-North) said the South-East must reconnect with the centre, stressing that sentiment could not deliver power.

Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, urged unity, saying the era of emotional voting in the South-East had ended.

Kalu said federal power required strategic alliances, urging support for Tinubu in 2027.

He commended South-East APC governors for backing Tinubu, whom he said had shown no regional discrimination.
