Shooting Stars Club of Ibadan Wednesday evening put smiles on the faces of their supporters as they defeated Nasarawa United 2-0 in a Nigeria Premier Football League Week 14 game played at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

The Ibadan-darling team put their recent woes behind them to take some pressure off the coach Akeem Busari-led technical crew who were recently cautioned by the club management after they lost 2-0 at home to visiting Heartland Football Club of Owerri last week.

Shooting Stars goals were scored by Adewale Ibrahim in the 7th minute and by Osagona Ighodaro in the 62nd minute to send the fans into a wild celebration.

Osagona said he was thrilled to score an important goal.

“It was nice to get the goal. I am happy because it was an important goal for us to seal the victory. I am happy and we will build on this,” Osagona assured.

Nasarawa goalkeeper Dami Paul said, “It was one of those things in football – we played good football but we failed to take our chances, 3SC did and scored two goals.”

Shooting Stars top striker Gbolahan Salami was kept on the bench throughout the duration of the game.

Salami who sat on the bench first time this season expressed his disappointment. “I felt bad for not starting the game but I just thank Allah that we won the match,” he said.
