Global pop superstar Shakira has teamed up with Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeat artist Burna Boy to release “Dai Dai,” the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The announcement was made on Shakira’s social media on Friday, thrilling fans worldwide.

“Dai Dai” is now available across all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music. Shakira posted: *“Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”*

FIFA also confirmed the song on its X handle, emphasizing that the track captures the energy, passion, and unity emblematic of the global tournament.

The song will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise USD 100 million to provide children worldwide with access to education and football opportunities. Shakira has pledged her royalties to the fund, while Sony Music will match the first $250,000 raised with an additional donation.

“Dai Dai” features motivational lyrics focusing on resilience, ambition, and unity. The song references football legends such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, David Beckham, Kaká, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Mohamed Salah. It also celebrates football nations including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands.

This marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup stage after hits like “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010 and “La La La” in 2014. For Burna Boy, this is a historic milestone as the second Nigerian artist to feature on a FIFA World Cup track after Davido, who collaborated on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

FIFA also announced that Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Los Angeles, United States, on June 12. The tournament begins on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
