Shagaya dies in auto crash

Former Internal Affairs Minister, General John Shagaya (rtd), is dead.
The former senator died in a lone traffic crash that occurred about 2:45 p.m. along Langtang – Pankshin road on his way to Jos, Plateau State on Sunday.
He was travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with his driver and an orderly from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
It was learned that the driver lost control and hit a tree, making Shagaya to sustain head injury that eventually led to his death.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) from Langtang Unit Command were immediately alerted by some drivers and they raced to the scene.
The two injured aides are currently in Pankshin General Hospital while Shagaya’s corpse has been deposited at the Air Force Hospital Mortuary in Jos. FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, has expressed his condolences to the family while appealing to other motorists to always avoid whatever could cause mishap on the highways.
