Sell pressure: NSE investors move 383.38m shares worth N5.34bn

The volume of shares traded on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday increased by 150.04 per cent following sell pressure.
Investors exchanged 383.38 million shares worth N5.34 billion in 2,857 deals.

This was against the 1.56 million shares valued at N1.56 billion exchanged in 2,699 deals on Tuesday.

GTBank drove the volume of shares traded with 128.49 million shares worth N2.57 billion.

Union Homes came second with 99.79 million shares valued at N495.96 million, while FBN Holdings accounted for 29.14 million shares.

Zenith Bank traded 15.68 million shares worth N248.42 million.
The market capitalisation, however, lost 0.10 per cent following price depreciation by some blue chips.

The market capitalisation lost N9 billion or 0.10 per cent to close at N9.383 trillion against the N9.391 trillion posted on Tuesday.

Also, the All-Share Index lost 26.11 points or 0.10 per cent to close at 27,287.89 from the 27,314.00 achieved on Tuesday.

Forte Oil led the losers’ chart, dropping N13.08 to close at N248.65 per share.

Seplat followed with a loss of N10 to close at N207, while Nestle shed N3.01 to close at N807 per share.

Nigerian Breweries fell by N1.97 to close at N116, while GlaxoSmithkline lost N1.34 to close at N36.66 per share.

Conversely, Unilever recorded the highest price gain to lead the gainers’ table with N4.08 to close at N43.98 per share.

Lafarge Africa inched up by N2.14 to close at N91.25, while Total increased by N1.93 to close at N147 per share.

Guinness grew by N1.82 to close at N123.12, while Dangote Cement appreciated by 95k to close at N158 per share.
