Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Tuesday, presented 100 brand new cars to substantive directors in the state civil service.
He described the gesture as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve governance.
Sanwo-Olu presented the cars at a brief ceremony held at the Pavilion, Lagos House, Ikeja, where the beneficiaries, all directors on Grade Level 17, received the vehicles.
The governor said the initiative was designed not only to enhance efficiency and service delivery across the public sector, but also to motivate civil servants to remain committed to excellence.
He congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to see the gesture as a call to greater responsibility, accountability and dedication to public service.
Sanwo-Olu said the state government remained committed to the welfare of its workforce and would continue to create an enabling environment for officers to perform optimally.
“This presentation of 100 brand new cars to our substantive directors is a deliberate investment in the machinery of governance.
“It is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, improve governance and ensure that those saddled with critical responsibilities are well supported to deliver effectively.
“We are not just rewarding hard work and years of dedicated service, we are also sending a strong message that commitment, excellence and integrity will always be recognised and rewarded in Lagos State,” he said.
The governor urged that the gesture should inspire other public servants to be diligent and loyal.
“As government, we have your backs, but this support also comes with greater expectations.
“You must continue to justify the confidence reposed in you and remain worthy ambassadors of the Lagos State Public Service,” he said.
Earlier, the state’s Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, commended the governor for the gesture, describing it as morale-boosting and a demonstration that hard work and excellence were appreciated in the Lagos State Civil Service.
Agoro said that the presentation would further inspire directors and other officers to remain steadfast in their duties.
“We are deeply grateful to Mr Governor for this thoughtful and generous gesture.
“This will undoubtedly boost morale within the civil service and further strengthen our resolve to give our best.
“It is a clear demonstration that in Lagos State, commitment and excellence are not taken for granted, but are always recognised and rewarded,” he said.
Thanking the governor on behalf of the beneficiaries, one of the directors, Mrs Shakirat Adeosun, said the gesture would enhance their efficiency and enable them to discharge their duties with greater ease.
She promised that the directors would continue to support government policies and deliver quality service.
