Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on his 57th birthday, describing him as a reliable, trustworthy and committed friend, brother and partner in the Greater Lagos agenda.
Hamzat, born on September 19, 1964, clocks 57 on Sunday.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Gboyega Akosile, described Hamzat as a seasoned technocrat, administrator, politician and committed democrat, who has served passionately as commissioner in different ministries and now the number two citizen of the Centre of Excellence, with a resolve to bring about positive change to Lagos State.
The Governor also commended Hamzat’s contribution to the growth and development of the State in the last 18 years, especially in the last 28 months of the current administration.
He said: “On behalf of my darling wife, Ibijoke and the good people of Lagos State, I heartily congratulate my reliable, hardworking, dependable, supportive and committed brother, friend and partner in the Greater Lagos agenda, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat on his 57th birthday.
“Dr. Hamzat remains one of the most committed public servants and politicians in Lagos State in the last 18 years and he has contributed immensely to governance and political development in our dear State.
“He made great achievements as Commissioner for Science and Technology between 2005 and 2011 as well as Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, and turned around the ministries during his tenure.
“We cherish Dr. Hamzat’s contributions to party politics and governance in Lagos State.
“He is a worthy ambassador and champion of technocracy and politics. And as a true democrat and progressive politician, he has remained steadfast in the progressive camp.
“As Dr. Obafemi Hamzat celebrates his 57th birthday, I pray that God will increase him in good health to enable him render more service to humanity, our dear Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State also felicitated Hamzat.
Oyetola, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, said he joined families, friends, associates and the people of Lagos to celebrate the Deputy Governor, whom he described as an astute technocrat, administrator and politician of note.
He lauded Hamzat’s contributions to governance and development of Lagos through the various capacities he has served the state.
Oyetola also appreciated Hamzat for being a loyal and dependable partner of Sanwo-Olu in the quest to develop Lagos State and deliver dividends of democracy to Lagosians.
“On behalf of my family, Government and the good people of Osun, I heartily felicitate my friend and brother, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on the occasion of his birthday anniversary.
“It is my prayer that Allah will grant you longer life and increase you in sound health and wisdom to serve the people of Lagos, Nigeria and humanity at large. Happy birthday, brother,” the governor said.
Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, described Hamzat as an important team-player whose contributions to governance and growth of Lagos cannot easily be quantified.
According to him, Hamzat, a technocrat and goal-getter, has remained a brother who has brought his expertise to bear in the progress of Lagos.
A statement by the media office of the Speaker described Hamzat as a reliable party man whose goals align with the collective zeal of leaders of the State to keep Lagos developed, stable and responsible.
“Hamzat is a committed Democrat, administrator and one who is greatly appreciated for his whole-hearted contributions to the growth and progress of our dear State.
“He has constantly shown himself an important team player and this has helped us in the government to keep aiming at the moon in our zeal to make Lagos one of the best places, not just in the country, but among notable cities across the globe.
“Congratulations, dear brother, friend and team player as you clock 57 today. Thank you for keeping the Lagos flag flying.
“I appreciate you for your contributions to governance and urge you not to relent in your love for Lagos.
“I pray that God will increase you in wisdom, give you special strength and good health so that you can remain of service to humanity,” the statement said.
