Vice President Namadi Sambo has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State during the general elections.
He revealed this at a fundraising dinner in support of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and his running mate, Nuhu Bajo, at Hotel Seventeen, Kaduna.
Sambo said with the preparation so far by the party, the PDP
would cruise home to victory on March 28 and April 11.
“Kaduna State is a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party and we have the objective of surpassing our previous records of performance. I have no doubt in our ability to meet our expectations in view of the wide acceptability of the party and possible indications that greater victories await our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party. We have always being a popular pillar of the party and we shall prove our mettle,” he said.
The Vice President added that the state was the most fortunate and blessed, due to the continuity it enjoys, which must be sustained.
“A state, with a population of over six million people and with a GDP and performance that surpass many African nations coupled with the continuity in governance it enjoys, must count itself lucky and fortunate. Since the inception of this democratic dispensation, successive administrations in the state are a continuation and consolidation of each other. That is why the state enjoys maximum benefit of good governance,” he added.
While expressing his gratitude to the electorate for always giving the party their overwhelming mandate, he urged them to maintain the tempo by rallying round the party to ensure its landslide victory while also reminding the electorate that it was their duty to support the PDP “because it is the party of Nigerians for Nigerians with the most people-oriented programmes that has been transforming the socio-economic well-being of our people. Succinctly put, PDP is Nigeria and Nigeria is PDP. If you go to every nook and cranny and even the remotest part of Nigeria, PDP has a system in place. You can’t beat the reach”
He urged members to donate generously towards the victory of PDP candidates at the polls.
Earlier in his remarks, the gubernatorial candidate, Yero said that all funds realised at the dinner would be utilised, not only for gubernatorial campaign, but for all the PDP candidates to ensure victory for the party at all the levels.
He urged party supporters to come out and campaign rigorously across board and not to be intimidated by the opposition, to ensure massive victory for the party.
Also in his remarks, former governor of the North-West state and the party’s senatorial candidate in Zone I, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, urged members to donate generously to ensure victory for all the party’s candidates.
