Bayelsa polls: Police read riot act to political parties, politicians

Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Government has frowned at the failure of Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Parastatals to pay the salaries of workers, as directed by Governor Seriake Dickson since Thursday of last week.

In a joint statement, the Head of Service, Dr. Peter Singabele and the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, blamed the situation on the Permanent Secretaries, Heads and Accountants of the various Ministries, Departments, Agencies and the Parastatals, pointing out that, the salary cheques were released to them as soon as the directive was handed down by the Governor, last week.

The two officers, who were among top government functionaries queried by the Governor over the failure to pay the salaries of workers, as directed last week, have warned that, failure to comply with the directive before the end of Today, (Monday, 13th of June, 2016), will attract very serious disciplinary measures against the officers of such Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Parastatals.

The statement also explained that, adequate measures will be taken to forestall any form of delays in future, stressing that, the non compliance by the relevant officers has put the Government in bad light and such would not be tolerated henceforth.
