Following the announcement of the postponement of the Independence 7s due to insurmountable logistic reasons, the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation will be staging its inaugural President Cup using the postponed Independence 7s platform.
The Technical Director of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, Mr. Fasimoye Olatunji, announced that following the last minute postponement of the Independence 7s, the federation had to step in and quickly fashion out a stop gap measure to ensure that rugby enthusiasts’ expectations are not dashed.
Fasimoye who also doubles as the Vice President of the Federation said “the postponement was a tough decision, but rugby fans and lovers should not be discouraged. We invite them to come out to support the President Cup.”
Merlins and Panthers Rugby Football clubs from United Kingdom, Parakou RFC from Benin Republic, Cowrie RFC, Barewa RFC, Nigerian Police, Racing RFC and others will trade tackles at this year’s inaugural President Cup which will hold at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos on Friday and Saturday 23rd -24th October 2015.
