Rotary International District 9127 has disclosed plans to honour some of its members for their outstanding humanitarian and leadership roles.
The icons, according to the District, will be honoured at the three-day conference,2026 District Conference (DISCON) holding May 14–16, 2026.
The conference will convene over 1,000 Rotarians from across northern Nigeria and the FCT with the theme: “Uniting for Good, Fostering Friendships and Celebrating Service”.
The Convener and District Governor, Dame (Dr.) Princess Joy Nky Okoro said major highlight at the conference will be the recognition of outstanding humanitarian service and leadership performances across the District.
The conference will debut the Rotary Leadership Talks (RLT); a TED-style platform designed to amplify bold ideas and emerging voices.”
The DISCON Planning Committee Chairman, Dr. Emeka Iloegbunam said DISCON 2026 will showcase the very best of Rotary.
He said: “Our goal is to deliver a conference that not only reflects Rotary’s core values but also creates meaningful engagement across sectors. From thought-provoking discussions and opportunity-framing to cultural experiences, DISCON 2026 will showcase the very best of Rotary in action.

“DISCON 2026 is positioned as more than a conference, it is a platform for engagement, collaboration and shared impact, reinforcing Rotary’s role as a trusted partner in national development through citizen-led service initiatives”.
Highlighting some of the roles of the district, he stated: “Rotary International District 9127 is part of the global Rotary International. It covers 16 states of Northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The District continues to play a vital role in advancing humanitarian efforts across Northern Nigeria, particularly through initiatives in peacebuilding and conflict prevention, disease prevention and treatment, water, sanitation and hygiene, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, community economic development, and supporting the environment. Rotary’s impact is deeply rooted at the grassroots level, from healthcare access to youth empowerment”.
The District while noting that the conference presents an opportunity for strategic partnerships, called on corporate organizations, development agencies, and media platforms to collaborate in scaling sustainable impact across communities.
