A suspected supporter of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, trying to discharge a dynamite, was killed on Tuesday morning in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
An eye witness revealed that the middle-aged protester carrying dynamite got killed while trying to discharge the explosive.
The incident happened in front of Hotel Presidential.
“The impact was so severe that it affected some protesters near the young man. He died on the spot and the corpse was hurriedly taken away by security agents”, he said.
There was heavy traffic caused by the protesters in support of Wike against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The protest was led by some leaders from Obio/Akpor.
The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ogundu Chinda, factional Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, former Council Chairman, George Ariolu, and others were also seen with the protesters.
Calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw policemen from secretariats of all the councils in the oil-bearing state, the protesters later moved to the Rumueme Civic Centre.
