Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Halilu Hussaini Pai, has assured that the introduction of card readers for the March 28 and April 11 general elections was to curb rigging and ensure all votes count.
The INEC boss, who gave the assurance during the signing of Peace Accord by all the political parties in the North-Central state, stressed that the new technology will place Nigeria side-by-side with modern democracies.
The occasion was organised by the Inter Party Advisory council (IPAC) in collaboration with the security agencies in Lokoja, the state capital.
Pai noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can only achieve a conducive atmosphere for free and fair election, if voters and politicians strictly follow the rules to avoid running fouls of the electoral act.
